The Mall – The Main Sponsors for Preston Carnival 2k7

1. For the second year running ‘The Mall’ will be our silver sponsor for Preston City Caribbean Carnival 2007.

2. Each of the procession vehicles and the mains stage will be bedecked in the official carnival logos and the silver sponsor – The Mall.

3. It’s anticipated that most of the 15 or so local bands and other outside bands will make up what is planned to be the largest procession in at least two decades.

4. The procession is planned to stop outside the Fishergate entrance of ‘The Mall’ at approximately 3.00pm.

5. When the procession stops it’s hoped the ‘Mall Monster’ will join the procession as it makes its way to the main stage on Moor Park.

“The Mall has been very supportive of the Caribbean Carnival in the past two years.  It’s their loyal intentions which will enable us to have yet another bumper event in 2007.”

The Biggest Carnival in years - Carnival 2k7

1. With the Carnival executive receiving the largest number of requests from bands across the city and the country, it is expected we will have the biggest and longest Caribbean Carnival procession in years!

“This is Preston’s longest running and largest premier cultural festival and 2007 promises to exceed all our expectations with a bolder and brighter programme of events.

We are fortunate to once again have ‘The Mall’ as our main sponsors; this will further enable us to fulfil more of our ambitions for Preston’s Caribbean Carnival event”

BBC Links with Carnival 2k7

1. With the BBC having a significant presence in the city during the month of May, they have made direct contact with Ronald Clarke - chairman and Dian Flannagan – treasurer to discuss how they might be able to further support the Caribbean Carnival King and Queen Costume contest on Saturday 19^th May which will take place in the Harris Museum from 12.00noon till 5.00pm.

2. Throughout the weekend of the 19^th May the BBC will be taking over the flag market with tons of technical equipment which will enable young people to have a hands-on experience of media related work.  The BBC hope to be able to offer their services to the Carnival Association by working along side the King and Queen Costume contest and the technical workshops on offer to young people throughout the day.

3. It’s planned the BBC will provide a stage platform on which the Kings and Queens of each of the procession bands will parade themselves in front of the judges, one of which is planned to come from Trinidad.

4. The BBC has suggested that they could assist by interviewing the costume pairs as part of the ‘Blast’ activities, which will be also taking place on the Flag Market during the weekend.
